On November 11, 2018, one hundred years will have passed since the signing of the Armistice, which ended hostilities. As a tribute to the memory of the Canadians who served in this deadly conflict, we are proposing a program commemorating this era – an event that will allow Canadians, even for a moment, to take the time to remember and feel, perhaps the space of a second, the joy that peace brought after so many deaths and destruction.

To this end, and to achieve our goal, we invite religious organizations across the country to help us by asking members of their network to participate by ringing their bells at dusk on November 11, 2018. We hope that those who hear the bells will stop and meditate on the losses and sacrifices made, both on the battlefield and in the country. This document provides information about our application, the steps required and the timing.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance to commemorate the soldiers of the First World War – The Royal Canadian Legion
